adga american oberhasli

The Oberhasli, also known as Swiss Alpines until 1977, started in the states with the import of four does and one buck by Dr. H.O. Pence in 1936 with former imports by others that would ultimately disappear into other goat breeds.
With such a small gene pool NCF believes one of the biggest threats to this breed in the USA is inbreeding depression.

Oberhasli as of 2014 were on average 30% inbred with current ADGA American Line Oberhasli registrations at or above 90% for the breed’s registrations for almost 20 years! The Oberhasli Cluster Analysis and ADGA Genetics Registration Trend’s are the closest the breed has to a census.

Our current Oberhasli does will be bred for ADGA Experimental Oberhasli-correct offspring then bred back up into ADGA American with a focus on lowering the COI average in the breed without sacrificing the breed’s characteristics.

AGHA American Guinea Hogs

Also known as “poor man’s pig” “Guinea Forest Hog” “yard pig”.

American Guinea Hogs were recognized as a distinct breed in 2006 with the formation of the American Guinea Hog Association, 11 founder hogs, and a breed description. The initial guidance from the association to keep as many hogs as possible and breeders following suit lead to the breed moving from critical to threatened with The Livestock Conservancy in 2014.

We raise AGH for their lard, well-marbled pork, and small size( for a pig ) with docile temperaments.
